For decades Morel has been known as a maker of high-quality drive units, used by countless other loudspeaker brands. With the Avyra series the Israeli company builds complete loudspeakers itself, and the Avyra 633 is the floorstanding model of the range. It is a loudspeaker for anyone looking for genuine hi-fi quality without having to step straight into the high end.
The Avyra 633 is a 2.5-way design with two 160 mm woofers and a hand-made 28 mm Acuflex™ soft-dome tweeter. The woofers feature a one-piece cone, a double magnet motor and Morel’s own EVC™ (External Voice Coil) technology: a large 75 mm aluminium voice coil that sits around the magnet rather than inside it. This gives excellent cone control and a tight, deep bass.
What stands out immediately is how complete and mature the Avyra 633 sounds for its price. The soundstage is open and spacious, the midrange clear and voices sound natural. The bass goes deep yet stays well controlled, and the treble offers plenty of detail without becoming sharp. The three drivers blend seamlessly, so even long listening sessions remain relaxed.
With a sensitivity of 89 dB the Avyra 633 is easy to drive. It works well with modern solid-state and streaming amplifiers, and a good tube amplifier is a fine match too. As the rest of your system improves, you will hear it: this is a loudspeaker that grows with you.
At 98 cm tall the Avyra 633 is not overly large, with a calm, timeless design and rounded side panels. A sturdy aluminium base provides a stable footing. The build and finish are neat and solid.
