The Pioneer SX-1250 is one of the absolute top models from Pioneer’s famous receiver era. Introduced in the second half of the 1970s, it made a strong impression at the time with its massive power supply, extremely powerful output stage and exceptionally solid construction.

With a rated output of no less than 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the SX-1250 has more than enough power to drive even larger and more demanding loudspeakers with authority. Its heavy-duty power supply and substantial power amplifier section contribute to the powerful, controlled and dynamic character for which these large Pioneer receivers are renowned.

Visually, the SX-1250 is equally impressive. The massive aluminium front panel, large analogue meters, classic tuning scale, aluminium control knobs and wooden cabinet make it instantly recognisable as one of Pioneer’s flagship models from the 1970s.

This particular unit has been fully refurbished and recapped. The ageing capacitors have been replaced and the receiver has undergone a thorough technical overhaul. For equipment that is now almost 50 years old, this represents significant added value and makes this unit particularly interesting for enthusiasts looking not only for an attractive SX-1250, but also for an example that has been comprehensively serviced.

In addition to its powerful amplifier section, the SX-1250 features an extensive AM/FM tuner, connections for multiple sets of loudspeakers, two phono inputs and comprehensive tone and filter controls.
